If you’ve spent the last week getting absolutely melted by a giant flaming sword or wondered why your Luna Snow ultimate feels just a tiny bit shorter, you aren’t alone. Season 4 of Marvel Rivals, titled Heart of the Dragon, has been out for a while now, but the dust is only just starting to settle on the meta. We’re officially deep into the K'un-Lun era. NetEase didn't just add a few skins and call it a day; they fundamentally shifted how some of the most popular heroes interact.
Honestly? It’s a lot to take in.
The Big One: Angela and the Thor Synergy
Everyone was talking about Angela before the patch dropped. She’s the new Vanguard, and she’s a tanky beast. But the real story isn't just her solo kit—it's the Divine Armory Team-Up. If you have both Angela and Thor on your team, things get spicy.
Thor gets a brand-new ability called the Thunderstrike Pike. He can throw a lightning-infused spear, and then—this is the part that ruins backlines—he can leap directly to it. It gives Thor the kind of mobility that makes him a nightmare for Strategists like Mantis or Rocket Raccoon. Meanwhile, Angela acts as the "anchor," gaining an extra 100 Health just for being on the same squad as the God of Thunder.
It's a "dive meta" dream come true.
Hero Balance: The Winners and the Very Sad Losers
Let's talk about the nerfs first because, boy, did they hit some fan favorites hard. Luna Snow has been a dominant force since day one. In the Season 4 patch, NetEase finally shaved the duration of her Ultimate, Fate of Both Worlds, from 12 seconds down to 10. Two seconds doesn't sound like much until you're trying to sustain a point under heavy fire.
Loki also took a hit. His illusions now only do 80% of his damage and healing (down from 100%). It’s a move clearly designed to stop Loki players from being better Duelists than actual Duelists.
Who got the goods?
- Magik: She is basically a new character. Her Magik Slash now pierces enemies and reduces her Stepping Discs cooldown by a second for every enemy hit. She’s become a high-skill ceiling monster.
- Scarlet Witch: Wanda’s Reality Erasure Ultimate got a damage bump to a comical 9,999 in certain internal hotfixes, but the Season 4 patch notes specifically added a "pull" effect. While she charges her Ult, she now drags enemies within 15 meters toward her. It’s terrifying.
- Jeff the Land Shark: Our favorite land shark now leaves a 100 HP/sec healing pool for 8 seconds after he uses his Ultimate. He’s actually viable as a primary sustain hero now.
The Arcade Hub is Finally Permanent
For those of us who just want to turn our brains off, the Arcade Mode Hub is a godsend. It’s no longer a rotating limited-time thing. You can queue for Free Fight (which has zero hero restrictions—yes, you can run six Hulks if you want to lose in style) or Clone Rumble whenever you want.
They also brought back Giant-Size Brain Blast on the Tokyo 2099: Ninomaru map. If you haven't played it, it’s basically chaos condensed into a small arena.
Maps and the "Heart of Heaven"
The new map, K'un-Lun: Heart of Heaven, is a visual stunner. It’s a Convergence map, so you’re fighting for a central point before pushing an objective. If you’re playing the Attacking side on the Arakko map, though, check the patch notes: they slightly boosted the vehicle speed in section 1 to help teams get past that initial choke point that was causing so many stalemates.
Quality of Life Stuff (The boring but important parts)
- Strike Squad Favorites: You can now "heart" your favorite heroes. They’ll show up in a dedicated bar at the top of the selection screen so you don't have to scroll like a maniac when the timer is at 2 seconds.
- Emoji Wheel Rework: You can actually send emojis in more scenarios now. It's a small thing, but great for BM-ing (or being nice, I guess).
- Slow Walk on PC: Finally. You can now walk slowly by toggling a key, which is mostly just for looking cool or sneaking up on people.
What’s Next for the Meta?
As we head deeper into 2026, the focus is shifting toward Season 6 and the arrival of Deadpool on January 16th. But for now, mastering the Angela-Thor dive or the new Magik projectile piercing is how you’re going to climb the ranks.
If you ended Season 3.5 at Diamond I, you probably noticed you started this season at Gold II. That 7-division demotion is standard, so don't freak out. Just get back in there and start abusing the Scarlet Witch pull-effect before everyone figures out how to outrun it.
Actionable Next Steps:
- Bind the "Slow Walk" key in your PC settings if you want to practice stealthier flanks with Black Panther or Psylocke.
- Jump into the Arcade Hub to test out the new Magik piercing mechanics without tanking your Competitive rank.
- Check your Gallery Cards—NetEase added a feature to download high-res versions directly to your PC or PS5, which are great for wallpapers.
